Understands much of what is said to him
This is the child's ability to both understand and use language. For example, this includes a 12-month-old baby saying his first words, a two-year-old naming parts of her body, or a five-year-old learning to say "feet" instead of "foots".
TIP: Now that your child understands so much of what is said to him, your expectations of him need to change as well. With understanding comes the responsibility to follow directions. How you communicate your expectations will significantly impact your child's compliance.
