Enjoys making marks on paper with crayons
A Fine Motor milestone for the 18-24 months age range.
TIP: Coloring is a great way for your child to learn self-expression. Many of his other means of play don't leave a mark (hopefully), but this is one where he is encouraged to do so! You will need to supervise him to keep the crayons out of his mouth and off the walls. If your child is only able to hold a crayon in a fisted grasp at 18 months, you should discuss this with your pediatrician. If he cannot imitate drawing a vertical line by his second birthday, you should also discuss this with your pediatrician.
Concerned that your child hasn't met this milestone yet?
